Jessica Broas is an American born, London based milliner. Jessica studied Fine Art at Rhode Island School of Design in the States and Goldsmiths College in the UK. Her artwork has been shown around the world in numerous group and solo shows.

Jessica's influences are broad and eclectic, from the gardens of Christopher Lloyd to the sculpture of Louise Bourgeois, from the flamboyant designs of Schiaparelli to the flora and fauna of the streets of London, where she resides. Juxtaposing these influences; combining the traditional and the contemporary has remained central to her work. 

Personal history is a major source of inspiration. Jessica worked for Jeff Koons in his New York City studio in the early Noughties. It is here that she discovered the importance of materials, their ability to convey meaning and how they affect a finished artwork. Having worked in architecture, written and performed in an all-girl rock band Jessica took a step sideways and undertook a personal journey; learning couture millinery from Rose Cory and how to harness ones creative influences and artistic vision into a wearable hat from milliner Piers Atkinson along the way. Pushing boundaries and innovation with materials, design and craft in millinery is a driving force in her work.

This notion of "the new" is combined with a healthy respect for craft and tradition, which in her opinion, is the foundation of every great hat.

Jessica currently teaches Millinery at London College of Fashion and does workshops throughout London.
